Proftest SYKE carried out the proficiency test for analysis of elements in waters and sediment in May–August 2013. The measurements were: Al, As, Cd, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Hg, Mn, Ni, Pb, Se, V and Zn. Also N, P, S, TC and dry weight from the sediment sample was measured. The sample types were: artificial water, municipal and industrial waste water, and sediment. A total of 43 laboratories participated in the PT. Basically, the metrologically traceable concentration, calculated concentrations or the robust mean of the results reported by the participant were used as the assigned values for measurements. The evaluation of the performance of the participants was carried out using z score. In some cases the evaluation of the performance was not possible e.g. due to the low number of the participants. In total, 87 % of the results in this proficiency test were satisfactory when deviations of 10–35 % from the assigned values were accepted.
